How To Make Your Own Cookbook And Some Sweet Recipes

Have you ever thought of making your own cookbook?  It is so easy and so much fun.  I will also share Lemon Blueberry Trifle and the Snickerdoodle recipes.

Well I got to do it with a special group of my online friends and we had a great time.   My husband calls them my "invisible friends", lol.  One of the people from our group, Lilylady, asked us if we would like to get together and make a cookbook.  Of course we thought this was a very cool idea.

Lilylady knew of a site that helps people across the miles, or even in the same house, contribute their recipes and make a book from it.  All of us used the site and typed in our recipes.  We also sent pictures to Lilylady.  She then organized our recipes and added our pictures.  Once the cookbook was complete we waited for it to get published and then we ordered our own copy.  Some of us ordered more than one to give as gifts for friends and family.  This does make a great gift.

The site that does the work for you is Create My Cookbook.  It is a great deal.  Our group opted for the spiral bound book.  You can get up to 100 pages with text and pictures for $19.95.  That is a great price to have just one or ten books made for you.

This is our book:

Let me share what my group of friends put together.

This is the cover from our book, which is the view from my kitchen:

Lily wrote a dedication on the first page:

And now for the fun.  I chose a couple of sweet treats to share.

The first recipe is for Snickerdoodles.  I made this recipe for my Christmas Cookie trays and they are wonderful...year round:)

This is how it looks in our cookbook:

The next one is for Lemon Blueberry Trifle.  It is also delicious.

I hope you enjoyed the recipes and the idea of making your own cookbook.  It was great fun and I want to thank Lilylady and my online friends again for making me part of this.

Think about doing this for a holiday gift, birthday, family reunion, or just to pass down in your own family.  It is a wonderful idea.

  4. That's great! Way to go! I saw your link on iRV2 forums.

I just had a look at the site, it seems a bit pricey though and it doesn't look like you (the author) really make any royalties, do you? Perhaps I read it wrong? Do they have any distribution avenues, are they cross posting on Amazon, or is it just available from their website? I looked around, but didn't see much info on their site about this stuff. I couldn't find any mention of royalties or distribution.

I ask, because I too am working on a cookbook, but am planning to use CreateSpace/Kindle, which will allow me to sell it for about $7.99 print and $2.99 ebook, and make 40% royalties ($3.19) on print and 70% royalties ($2.09) on ebook sales, plus it'll be available at traditional bookstores in addition to on Amazon. But that also means I have to do all the formatting myself and take all the pictures of recipes and do my own cover art - no templates, so it's taking me months actually to get it all worked out.

    1. Thank you for your information. The cookbook I made with my friends was strictly for fun. We made no profit. The site I mentioned was for family and friends enjoyment of your recipes.:)
