Soft Beef Taco Pie

This recipe was passed on to me by a friend of mine.  Thank you Kelsie:)  I did make some modifications that the grandkids seem to really like.

BTW, if anyone is having trouble posting to my blog a friend of mine told me what you should do.  From Jaxson:)

"Just pick 'anonymous' type your message then I sign my name at the end of it. That way you don't have to go through all the registering on the other choices or use your FB account."

Back to the recipe....

Ingredients:
3-4 large tortilla shells
1 lb. ground beef
2 minced cloves of garlic
1/2 cup minced combo of green peppers and onions, minced(for the kids)
1 package of Taco seasoning mox
3-4 Tbl. salsa
1 Jar Cheez Whiz or a Generic

Brown the meat with the garlic and the peppers and onions:

After the meat is browned drain it.  Add it back to the pan then add the taco mix, 3/4 water, and salsa:

Heat to a slow boil and lower.  Simmer for 10 minutes:

Get ready to make your pie.  Melt the cheese inside a bowl in the microwave for 2 minutes.  Stir every 30 seconds or so.

Place one tortilla in the bottom of a sprayed pie plate:

Add 1/3 of the meat mix:

Add another tortilla and meat, another tortilla and meat:

Add the fourth tortilla on top and put the cheese on top:

Spread it around:

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes:

I goofed on this one and only made two layers instead of three but I'm sure the kids will still like it:)

Serve hot and enjoy.  This recipe can be modified to suit your tastes.  Add more veggies or less.  Use a Taco, Burrito, or Fajita Seasoning packet.  The Cheez Whiz for my family is a must.

  1. Hi Lisa! Looks yummy....I'm going to try it with Boca instead of meat and shredded pepper jack cheese instead of the cheese whiz. Earl will be so impressed! Lol

    2. I hope you try it. This recipe is a great base to do what you want. I have also done it with chicken, black beans, and corn. I have added sour cream and black olives and used whole grain tortillas. I like the Cheez Whiz but my waist doesn't, lol.

I hope Earl enjoys it. Let me know how it is with the Boca.

  3. Wow! Yours looks way better than mine did! I'm going to have to try it again but maybe I'll try the shredded pepperjack too. Cheese Whiz was too rich for us. Lisa, you did good!

    1. I love the Cheese Whiz but when I make it for myself I use chicken and shredded low fat cheese. It's still good. I also like the Taco seasoning best.:)
