French Toast Casserole...So Easy And So Good

This is a very easy breakfast dish that can be made the night before and reheated in the morning.   It is great to make when you need to use up older bread.  I wonder how it would be with hot dog buns, lol?

Here are the ingredients:
5 cups bread cubes
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups lowfat milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter softened
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Spray butter flavored cooking spray in an 8x8 pan.  Spread the bread cubes on the bottom.  Beat the eggs, milk, 2 Tbl. sugar, salt, and vanilla.  Pour over the bread cubes.

Dot the butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and remainder of sugar in top:

At this point you can  let it sit for ten minutes and then bake or cover it and refrigerate over night.

Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden.  Scoop it out and serve with Maple syrup.

Now you have your main dish and can serve this with meats and fruit of your choice.
